Gyrotonic Level I Teacher Pre Training Course

This is the first step in your teacher training journey and will offer an amazing follow up Foundation Course starting Feb 25 with Specialized Master Trainer, Karen Mullen. She comes to us with over 30 years experience as a Master Trainer and one of the first Master Trainers selected by Juliu Horvath to conduct Final Certifications, mentoring other Master Trainers along their process. This is a local course not to be missed!
WAV is actively looking for Gyrotonic Trainers to join our team and share our fully equipped studios for private training and group classes.
Please inquire if you are interested, as we offer work/trade scholarships and mentoring opportunities.

Purpose
To provide a foundational understanding of the Gyrotonic level 1 exercises and prepare students physically for the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course. Alternately, this course may be taken for personal enrichment, as your own retreat! During this course, students focus on gaining experience and developing a personal understanding of the exercises on the Pre-Training Course exercise list. Note this course is required before attending a Foundation Course.
Prerequisites
An experienced Gyrotonic student with a basic understanding of the Gyrotonic level 1, progression I exercises. Students should take a minimum of ten or more classes with a Licensed Gyrotonic Trainer before registering for this course. For students who do not have access to Gyrotonic classes, a three-day introductory course designed to provide an introduction to the Gyrotonic level 1, progression 1 exercises can be taken before the Pre-Training Course.

Upon successful completion
Once students have successfully completed the Gyrotonic Level 1 Pre-Training Course, they may proceed to the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course. The foundation course must be taken between one week and 3 months after the pre-training course.

Gyrotonic Level I Teacher Training Foundation Course

Purpose
To provide a more in-depth understanding of the Gyrotonic Level 1 curriculum and provide students with the specific skills and techniques needed to teach these exercises to clients. During this course, a Gyrotonic Master Trainer introduces the teaching techniques and principles underlying the Gyrotonic Level 1 exercise syllabus and introduces the complete Gyrotonic, Level 1 exercise curriculum.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of the Gyrotonic Level 1 Pre-Training Course. No more than 12 weeks can expire between the completion of your Pre-Training Course and the Foundation Course.
Upon Successful Completion
Upon successful completion of this course, you are issued a Certificate of Apprenticeship and can begin providing instruction to clients. The apprenticeship license is valid for 1 year. During the one-year apprenticeship period, students will finish the Gyrotonic Level 1 Apprenticeship Review Course, practice teaching hours, and the Gyrotonic Final Certificate Course. Students must spend a minimum of six months in personal practice and practice teaching before they are eligible to attend the final certificate course. Retaking a Foundation Course may be applied as your Apprentice Review or Update Course.

This course can be applied as either your GYROTONIC® or GYROKINESIS® update credit. We strongly suggest that you do introductory sessions on the Jump-Stretch Board prior to participating in this course.

Gyrotonic Applications for Osteoporosis

Justine is recognized both nationally and internationally for her expertise in Osteoporosis. She teaches Gyrotonic Applications for Osteoporosis, all Level 1 training courses, Cardiovascular Program 1, Gyrotoner, Archway, and other advanced courses.
In this three-day Gyrotonic update course, instructors learn the definition, incidence, and physiology of bone loss and how to prevent osteoporotic fractures and falls. Participants will learn how to understand a bone density scan, how to recognize people who are at risk of developing osteoporosis, and some basic information about nutrition and medications. The course will also cover modifications of exercise, specifically Gyrotonic® Level I exercises, for clients with Osteoporosis as well as exercises specifically for bone reformation and prevention of osteoporotic fractures.
On the last day of the course, you will experience 3 progressions of the material covered: one for a client with severe osteoporosis, one for a client with osteoporosis, and one for a client with osteopenia. The material is excellent for any therapeutic population including someone with a neurologic condition, poor balance, poor posture, or difficulty walking.
Goals for the course:
● Basic understanding of Osteoporosis
● Identify and discuss a person's unique needs regarding bone strength and fracture risks
● Evidence Based programming for fall prevention and fracture prevention using the Gyrotonic Method.
Once you register please start collecting DXA scans and t-scores from your clients, we will use these in the course to personalize your experience.

GYROTONIC® Applications for Dancers Level I

This course combines the kinetic fundamentals of classical and contemporary dance with the movement principles of the Gyrotonic Expansion System, resulting in better body awareness, flexibility and strength, and a deeper understanding of the physiology of dance.
